“I being in the way, the LORD led me…” (Genesis 24:27)

Dear Faithful Friends,
Special Opportunity
On the tenth of August, we boarded a plane to make a two week trip back to Brazil. Beside the chance to once again be speaking in Portuguese to the people we had come to love, we were headed to a celebration. Our granddaughter, Melissa, was getting married to a very fine young Christian man. He is the son of a national pastor and has a very good testimony. The wedding was beautiful, and the bride even more so (no prejudice of course). Our missionary son Ben and his wife Lu are happy for their daughter and hopeful for a wonderful life for Melissa as she and Victor serve the Lord together. They both have been raised to love and honor the Lord and have shown that to be their purpose in their life together.
Along with the chance to participate in the wedding, we were able to visit with some of our friends from many years ago that attended the wedding. Our youngest daughter, Rachel, accompanied us by taking her daughter to allow her to see where her mother had grown up. Emily was very patient as she often sat hearing us all speaking in Portuguese and not understanding what was being said. She was able to savor authentic Brazilian barbeque and Guaraná soda pop. We praise the Lord for the opportunity to go and for the safety of our travels. Don was asked to preach in one of the services and seemed to fit right back where he left off before returning to the States.
Ministry Opportunities
We continue to have the privilege to serve the Lord here in the US. Don continues with his Monday evening Bible study over the internet. There are five men who are online, four in Brazil and one in Portugal. On Tuesday evening, he is giving a study in the book of Ezra to some of the men of our church here in Weatherford. Once a week, he is also doing a personal discipleship with one of the men of the church as well. Some of these meetings are taking place over the internet because the brother works in west Texas. Don has also substituted in Sunday School classes. Linda is involved in one of the ladies’ ministries in the church.
Written Materials
Don is in the process of preparing material to put on the web page both in Portuguese and English. This will be lessons, messages and studies used in Brazil over the years. There is one glitch in the web page that is being corrected this week so that hopefully the material will begin to be posted in the next few days. In the meantime, our prayer letters and blogs are already available.
Special Prayer Request
Upon returning to the States, we were greeted with news of various friends and church members having been diagnosed with cancer. One is an 85-year-old neighbor lady with whom Linda has become a good friend. Linda prayed with her and has been an encouragement to her. Please pray for these dear friends.
Your servants in Christ,
Don and Linda Leaf
